bike: 1981 GPz1100, hasn't run since 1990, gas tank is completely rusted (like, I could put my hand all the way through from behind the filler neck to just below the steering neck!)
has 34k miles, ran well 16 years ago when I parked it at my bro-in-law's place when I moved out of state, although the valves were starting to make "time to re-shim!" noises. tachometer/speedometer housing was destroyed in a hailstorm (he left it parked outside 'cause he decided he wanted room in his barn for his junk!)
When I got the bike in 1986 it had a double bucket touring seat (on a GPz!!!) and an ungodly loud racing-only Kerker.
Sooooo...
With the tank, gauges, exhaust and saddle all needing replaced, I've got to decide-do I restore the red hodrod or go mild custom?
It's just now being torn down in the garage.
Oh, about me? I'm a country preacher with an old hotrod Kaw slowly growing into something as yet unknown in the parsonage garage! Bwa-ha-ha!!!!

Welcome.
Whatever you do, bring that red hotrod back to life. Always liked the GPzs in any form.
Give us some progress pix too.

Welcome to the site!
You've GOT to take some pictures of the bike and post them. The best part about this site is seeing the transformation from 'basket case' to 'head turner'.
I say restore it. That bike looks good as a stocker.
