Hey everyone, i just purchased a 1978 KZ1000 B2 and i have to say the older Kaw's have always been some of the best looking bikes to me. I was able to pick my bike up for $800 and it only has 19K miles on the odometer. However, the motor was changed out at one time with a 903cc Z1, so i guess it would be for the better.
Overall the bike is in great shape except for some carb issues, a worn sprocket set and chain, and some tires. No rust and great chrome, seat is even original and in great shape. I think i came across a pretty good bargain.
Im still sorta a newbie of a rider, this is only my second bike. My first was a '00 Vulcan 500 which is no longer with me after i took a 40 mph low side in a blind corner where the local road crew had been ever so greatful to leave gravel in the road. I've been kind of reluctant to buy another bike after my brush with road rash, but i finally got over it and im back on the horse. Only this time i plan on wearing a proper protective jacket at all time, i still remember the sea sponge and iodine soap with the lack of any pain killer besides tylenol.
Besides that, im just your average joe. I work as a heavy deisel mechanic for a transit company, and im an avid gear head. Well anyway, enough small talk....hope to find out alot of info here because i got a ton of questions.

Thanks man, im hoping that from between a repair manual and this site i'll be able to straighten out my theoried carb problem and get my bike to starting better. I almost run the battery down everytime i try to crank it....sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesn't
