Hello All,

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Neil from Edmonton, Alberta and I am the proud owner of a 1978 Red KZ650SR with 18500 original Kilometres on it. I am completely new to bikes although I have wanted one as far back as I can remember. So with a good mid life crisis in mind, I found one of the bikes that everyone going to High School in the late '70s wanted.
I hope that I can learn a lot here about this bike, and motorcycling in general. I am sure that I have a lot of stupid questions. I look forward to looking through and seeing what all of you have and are up to.

Neil

Hi Neil and welcome to the forum. You will find lots of great information here so don't be afraid to ask. It amazes me how these low mileage bikes keep coming out of storage - did the original owners lose interest a year of two after buying the bikes or what?

Welcome, Neil. Two of the best and often overlooked features are the archives (under the forum tab) and the search field. Now, did I hear someone say pictures? ;)

Welcome, Neil.

That looks like a fine example of the '78 SR. Enjoy that ride!

In case last submission didn't make it ( is there a delay? ), Thanks for the welcome. The bike is almost all original from what I can tell and has just a few scratches and the odd small ding on the tank and exhaust. In extremely good condition overall. I hope to do a few things to it, electronic ignition was one suggestion and I would really like some sort of luggage rack, which would help with day to day stuff as well as give me some anchor point for removeable saddle bags.

If the pics didn't come through, 3 are posted here. Taken last fall.

Nice looker..I really like that red. Welcome from a fellow new member. I am a new bike owner/rider too. Keep me up to date on your luggage rack/bags solutions as I am in that mode also. Not much room under the seat huh?
