As long as it is for a C model it will work there is a difference in the switches between the A model and C model different plug as I recall. I am curious as to what is wrong with your existing switch, lost the key, not operating the electrics, what? If you just need a new key you can take the number stamped on the lock and contact
www.key-men.com
and for around $20.00 they can cut you a new key. I've used them before with good success. If it is electrical problems you are having you might try taking it apart and cleaning up the contacts.
As to your question about being an inspectable item I'm not sure I understand what you are asking, do you mean like a state motor vehicle inspection?

FAST REPLY....THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!
I have no existing switch, currently using screwdriver to turn bike on.
So all "C's" should work with each other ?

Since your question is about what will fit, I moved it to the Electrical section. The bonus is that it will be seen in both forums!
Welcome to the asylum and good luck on getting a switch. If it works electrically and you have the number on the key or the original key, then a locksmith may be able to replace the lock cylinder.

Ok so as I understand it you have a switch but somebody boogered up the lock. In that case pretty much any ignition switch from that same era will work 550, 650 CSR, 750 Ltd you can just take apart the switch you have and add a new lock setup with a key. As to your state inspection question I haven't a clue you will have to call whoever does the inspections and ask them.
