Hello again

Back to the front wheel of my KZ200 project bike... Got a slight problem, and it's puzzling me. I've replaced the spokes, as you can see, but some of them are sticking out quite a lot. This should not be happening, as the standard spoke lengths for this wheel are 179mm and 179.5mm, and the spokes I'm using are shorter, i.e. 175mm.

When I look at the diagram here:
www.kawasaki.com/Parts/PartsDiagram/141831/1978/KZ200-A1A

The lacing pattern seems to be the same as what I have. Plus, the left side is laced to the left side's holes on the rim, and the right side is laced to the right side's holes on the rim.

I've obviously made a mistake in lacing this up, but I just can't see how or where. Any ideas please?

A couple of questions, did you take a picture of the lacing pattern beforehand? Why did you buy shorter spokes? Do you have the inner and outer spokes in their correct place. Watch the video to identify the inner and outer spokes

Look at the rear it will be the same pattern. Have you but the rim on a shaft and spun it. The hub is likely not centered in the rim.

Yes, and I accidentally deleted the picture.

Why did you buy shorter spokes?

They came up for sale cheap and I decided to give them a try

They're all the same spokes. Kawasaki used slightly different types for inside and outside, but I felt like using all the same spokes because these replacement ones are a lot thicker and and stronger than the Kawasaki originals, and I felt these could be coaxed into place and shape.

Look at the rear it will be the same pattern.

That was a great suggestion - thanks. I've relaced it correctly with the bespoke spokes now. The spokes aren't sticking out now.
It still isn't trued or centered, but I think it's in the right ballpark to bash around and tension into place.

Ive done about 10 sets of wheels, that pattern doesnt look right.

You need to study an assembled wheel, once you get one spoke the rest fall into place. Next time mark a "key spoke" by marking the hole on the rim and hub for one spoke.

Thanks, but which one do you mean? The picture in my first post or my second one?
