I called a local kaw shop today to see what they would charge to change out a rear tire. I almost fell over dead !! He wants one and a half hours labor to take one tire off the rim and install another tire. I called another kaw dealer in ogalalla nebraska (about 1 hours drive) and he said oh heck bring it over and wait on it, I'll have it done in no time. Man I thought wow what a guy, then I ask him the price, WOW OH WOW. $10.00 and tax and im out the door. Wayne

Some places have multiple rates for tire changes.

If the sell you the tire, the rate is usually cheap.
If you bring in the tire, the rate is excessive (to discourage you from buying a tire elsewhere).
If they have to remove the wheel from a bike (especially a bike touring bike) - bring your bank manager.

I got #!$@^ at a local yamaha shop, went in with the wheel off, needed a new tube, ran over a nail, damn near lost it in a corner, well they said it took more than the standard amount of time to change it added another 15.00 to the job, Last Time they will ever see me no matter what!

Jeff, I guess your right on there, I got the tire from J.C. Whitney for cheap. This kaw dealer close to me is expensive anyway, ive ordered from him and will never do that again.
BSKZ650, even if I need a new tube,might even have one installed anyway, it would still be cheaper then the $70.00 this other guy wants. Wayne

I was under the impression you lived closer to me then you actually do. Your on the eastern end of nebraska and im on the western end or actually im 30 miles into colorado . Wayne

The local Harbor Freight had the tire changer and the motorcycle attachment on sale a couple of days ago, normally $69.99 and $49.99 on sale for $39.99 and $29.99, so I decided it was time to step out of the stone age so I bought them

I paid $10 to get a 180 55 17 mounted and balance on my zx swingarm setup. Performance cycle, all they do is all kinds of bikes. He had it done in 5min. No scratches eitherB)

I take all mine to cycle Maniaxx here in Kent, $20 mount $ balance (with removal and tire disposal).

I am going to take my current wheels I am working on in and just have the tires torn off so I can go through the wheels before repainting.

I do all my own tires, even the balancing.
