I was hoping to find an alternative to the sealed beam options and find a headlamp lens/reflector housing that took replacement bulbs like H4's and the KZ750 but I'm not finding anything of this size. Has anyone successfully found an alternative? There was a company called Candlepower that had just what I was looking for but they no longer offer them...

Rice Paddy has one that I used. It is for a Honda but will fit the 440 if you trim the corner off the bracket where it mounts to the brackets. Not a big deal to do.

Try Dime City Cycles, they have 2 6 1/4 in. headlights which is the size for the KZ400/440s and I think the Honda CB350s also.

Thanks for the replies!! I ended up getting a KZ750 headlight assy and bracket, cutting the arms from both brackets and welding the KZ750 arms to the KZ440 bracket.

The parts off eBay cost about the same combined as the housing assy from Dime City. :S

I bought a replacement bucket and brackets from Dime City, as well as a, sealed-beam H4 conversion housing. The factory headlight bucket on the KZ440 only works with the KZ440-specific sealed-beam unit, which is Kawasaki P# 23003-022 . There are NOS units available on ebay.... for over $100.

I did the "British Style" ellipsoid bucket, but they have a fairly stock-looking unit available too: www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-race...bucket-66-65010.html

That will accept any 7" universal fit sealed beam unit from the auto-parts store, or you can get an H4 conversion that will let you use H4 lamps.

You can see the pics of my headlight setup here: i.imgur.com/u3IB3dl.jpg Note that I also replaced my mounting bracket and the turn signals (My bike had aftermarket turn signals when I bought it, and they weren't very good). You might be able to re-use your factory bracket, but you would likely need to get the stock-style bucket that I linked above rather than the deeper British style one I have.
