I bought new points for my KZ1000 from Z1E. The new points have this different connecting tab that I've never seen b4. Is there a simple modification to make these work? It wouldn't be a problem, but there isn't enough room to slide both of the stock wire ends when loosening the screw that holds it all together. One solution is to take it apart, remove the connector tang/tab in question, reassemble it and go from there as normal. Problem with that is the tiny parts under spring tension make that idea not doable for me with my tremor. The other solution is to convert to dyna ignition which is not an option at the moment. There must be an easy fix to my delima. I tried searching for similar threads, but have not seen this discussed, or perhaps I just havent seen a similar thread. I have no idea why these points are different (KZ900/1000 btw). Any ideas or insight would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

A picture of what you are dealing with would really be nice to see.

I will when I get to my shop. I am on a backup tablet because my main PC is temporarily down.

An old one is the middle. The male connecting tabs to the left on the new ones is my question. I have never seen them b4 but I suppose they could be removed with care on reassembly...by a steadier hand than mine LOL.

From my experience the replacement points set you have are set up for "push on" wires connectors which are different than what you most likely have. The end on your wires probably is somewhat U-shaped and slips under/in-between the connector screw. I suppose there are a couple of ways of dealing with this. One would be to take the male spade piece out by taking the screw out of the assembly, but if you are unsteady it could be a problem by yourself. Do you have someone that could give you some help in doing this? It isn't very difficult at all as you just need to keep things together with the screw out for a few seconds. My other thought is to just trim or cut off the male spade connector and leave the other end of it in place and slip your wire connector under it. The last option would be to cut off your wire ends and put mating female ends on your wires that would push on the connectors. That could cause problems though as you should have a special terminal crimping tool to ensure the ends are attached properly or risk electrical issues. My course would be to remove the end by taking the screw out and using a needle nose pliers or something to keep things together until I can reinsert the screw. I know, easier said than done sometimes....

You can simply remove or not the male connector, so whats the Problem to do this.
Here are some pics you have to see/know about that the male connector is not the Problem.

Scirocco you come up with the best pictures. Truly enjoy them.

Original post said he suffers from shaking, I understand his concern for disassembling small parts. My we can find him a close member that he could mail the points to and we could modify for him.

Thanks Rick H. Yeah mine are the stock u-shaped connectors that are slipped into the gap created wh3n the screw is loosened. I should have added to my original post asking that IF I got sent the wrong points?...then what models use that style? Anyway these appear identical other than the male connector in question, so I will make them work. Thanks again and stay safe wherever you are.

Thanks for the pics Scirocco. My main concern was to make sure I could make these work by removing the male tab in question to make enough room for the '2' u-shaped connectors that have to slide into each one. Sucks having to go to that trouble but mainly wondered if anyone else got points sets like that for their 900/1000 from Z1E. I'll make them work. Thanks again and stay safe.

Sorry, i had over read your Tremor. Try to loosen the nut, if i am looking right, there should be enough space for the u-shaped connectors.

Thanks again Scirocco. I can make them work. But it is rather odd. I've been buying points for this same bike since i bought it new from the dealer back when I was about to graduate high school (44 years lol) and never seen these. I thought perhaps they might be for bikes with multiple style points. At any rate...see new stuff all the time.

So, what bike would these points actually be for?
