I rebuilt my carbs, and got the bike running ok, but i have a couple questions.
please refer to the image for reference.

What should #1 be connected to?  i believe it went to the airbox, but that's long gone.

The choke lever #2 is missing whatever keeps it engaged.  i assume it was a ball and spring?  any clue where i can get a replacement?

I need to sync the carbs, and check the float levels. Where can i get the fittings for #3 & 4?

#1 need a tube to atmosphaere
#2 yes, need a spring and steel ball to engage the choke leveler in position
#3 vaccum port block off screw, need special tool/tube M4
#4 bowl drain screw, need special tool to set up float high

Thanks for the info, I have most of that already, but neither my Clymer or Shop manual have that appendix (that i can find).
Aside from the first one, my question was actually "where can i get them?"

I will check my sync tool.  I've never needed an accessory for my Yamahas, so i didn't think to look for it.

any idea if this will work with my keihin carb? Z1 fuel fitting
it claims to be equivalent to OEM:57001-208 (number from the appendix), but i can only find that number in reference to Mikuni Carbs.
Want to be sure the threads are the same.

Thanks

anyone?

I checked my sync tool, and the included adapters are way too small for the Keihin carb.
i searched for P/N 57001-401 as referenced in the appendix, but all i can find are 2 sketchy listings on ebay, which want waaay too much for 1, and partzilla "might" be able to get one in "a few weeks"...

someone has to have found an alternative...

I made adapters.  The threads are a standard metric thread.  I drilled a hole through a bolt the long way and cutoff the head.  The bolt should be long enough to have a smooth shank.  I then brazed a nut on to seal it.  With a small oring, it did a decent job during the sync.  I then left it in the carb instead of the plug screw, and put a rubber cap on it.

If you can find brass bolts, that would probably be easier to drill and solder.

according to my thread gauges, it's a M6x1 thread...
I found these nipples , which hopefully will do the trick

I believe the drain plug is also 6mm, but a different pitch.
haven't had a chance to drain my fuel bowl, to check.

In order for a vac synch to work properly, you want a restriction as close to the carb as possible.  This is so the synch tool doesn't alter the vacuum reading.

Finally got the choke spring and ball sorted out.
took 3 tries to get the right part, due to listings being wrong, and me not knowing what it actually looked like.

Here's the spring and ball assembly for 74-75 KZ400 for future reference.

Choke actually stays engaged now
