I saw a cool video the other day. Basically a game show at a drag strip where the contestants had to guess the ET of some vehicle they knew nothing about.
In the vid, a guy shows up on an old KZ1000. Look stock, no big block that I could tell, no wheely bars, no huge back tire. The contestants guess mid 10s. I think one guy guessed in the 9s. The rider ripped off a 9.(something) if I remember right and about 135mph.
So my quesrtions are, how much HP does it take to do that, what did he do to the bike, and what do you suppose he spent on the motor>

A no wheelie bar bike I would say takes about 150 hp to the rear to make it into the nines. Lots of ways to get there but minimum I would say is $3000 on up. Its easy to put $2000 up into the head and cams.

I have only seen one episode of that show and it was the one you described. All were surprised at how quick the KZ ran (except the rider and the single contestant who guessed in the 9's).

I would think 150 HP and if you are going to pay a shop to build a motor like that fo ryou your looking at $4000-$5000

if youre smart and watch the classifieds
you can do it for about $3000 to $4000
for a complete bike all good to go at the moment
however i feel the market is about to take a very northern turn into high prices for these old bikes
I would hold on to anything big and old and KAWASAKI and just watch
youll see
