I'm looking for a good condition stock seat for my 78 KZ1000A
the flat type with a good pan would be great.
I'm currently using a KZ900 stock seat I will sell if I find the right seat.

Are they not the same except for the cover?
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Perhaps all you need is a new cover.  They are fairly common.  Here is one source.

‘76-‘77 Kz900A and the ‘77-‘78 Kz1000A all used the same seat. There are only two flat seat patterns. Z1 and the KzA’s up till 1978. If yours is different then it’s not original. The pans are different also. The Z1 pan has the lock latch in the center. The KzA’s it is off to the left side. LTD ‘76-‘80 pan and cover are stepped. Then you get into the D1 and D3 seat, flattish but a third pattern. Also the MKII is similar to the D’s without a sectioned side panel.

Fun fact - the 78 KZ1000 A model seat has a unique (78 only) pattern as seen in this image - current ebay item 275637727798 - It is similar in appearance to the Z1 pattern but different
Another 1978 A model difference as compared to the 1977 model is the addition of a spot welded seat rod catch
1976 & 1977 KZ900 and 1977 KZ1000 A had the same seat cover but different battery vent hose decals - see ebay item 203253161255

Partzilla shows 2 part number 53001-119 and 53001-1009. Based on my research 53001-119 is correct for the Kz900/Kz1000 through 1978. Is it possible that the 1009 seat is the Canadian/EU model?

Thanks all
I purchased the one on ebay shown earlier in this post.
It's ok but a little scabby, I'd be interested in seeing others avail nicer.
Mine is a 78A as mentioned earlier it has the 3 rows of rectangles I'm looking for. I have a 900 seat to sell  with the rectangles down the center
this is the seat I have on my 781000A now
