Quick update. Stopped at my favorite locksmith and $26 later I have two keys and working seat lock and steering lock. Bad news the ignition switch I’ve been putzin with is a different keyway. Locksmith said it must be from a newer bike. I think I’ve learned enough to feel comfortable buying a random ignition with the correct pin configuration and reworking the wafers. I’m thinking instead of drilling out the rivets holding the brass housing on the core, I’m going to play with drilling a hole to access the locking wafer. I might be able to release the plug without tampering with the brass housing and core. 

You can file the inside of the core to make your key fit.

I ordered a cheap $25 Emgo ignition. Got a random key number of 714. I pulled the contact block and actuator. After testing on the first switch I figured out where to drill a small hole to remove the plug without separating the brass housing from the core. After a little massaging I got the plug out. This plug the wafers just popped out. I removed them in order and test fit the locksmith code key and it fit the emgo plug, one problem, the cut indexing on the Emgo plug is different from the OEM. I have ordered a 6 pin OEM ignition without keys from evilbay. Feeling confident I can disassembled without destroying it I’m gonna see if I can still make this work. My next try is going to get the plug out without taking apart the contact block. I found out how to get the steering stem lock apart. I’m working on the seat lock next, but I need to find a guinea pig.
