Are the sprocket carriers very different between the KZ1000 spoke wheels and the KZ1000 mag wheels?  Are they not at all compatible?  I've never had a spoke wheel bike, but I figured they would be similar.

According to Partzilla Exchange, part number 42008-034 sprocket carrier / crush drive only fits 77-80 kz1000 “A” models.

I think it's just 77 and 78.  The "A" model bikes had mag wheels in 79 and 80.

I would have guessed that the different part number for the mag wheel sprocket carrier 42008-040 was just because it was painted black around the edge.  Or maybe that's the case for the Z1R specific one, 42033-1005?

But now that I look at it, the spoke wheel hub uses a different shock damper (42014-028) than the mag wheels bikes (42014-033) which suggests they are not compatible.

Mr. E, if you ended up with the two different kinds can you point out the difference?

Ok, here is a quick shot at the ones yall may run into, I can get better shots post cleaning later. But the first sprocket is the correct one for the 18" spoked wheel with disc brake, the identifying markers I notice is the casting fingers you can see through the sprocket holes. The fingers on the backside are thicker than others. Casting code 041

The second sprocket is for the 18" spoked drum rear wheel. This has a noticeably wider sprocket bolt pattern and the cast wall that connects them. It also has a circular cast  inner ridge that is noticeable . It will be too large to fit the disc hub. Casting code 031

The second hub, for the 900 drum wheel comes in two versions that I know of. As you pictured with the rib down in the recess and one with that said rib which is the earlier version.
