I don't see it being worth 1/2 of current BIN price. Basically buying engine (of unknown quality), front forks/clamps and carbs. I guess a titled frame is worth something even though it would take some work to repair the awesome modifications that have been performed on it.

I really don't understand the appeal of a 650 pound dirt bike.

I feel like we should save the details of this bike and some other recent Z1 auction where it sold above expectations, and use it as an example when folks show up with a plan to bob or flat-track or hard-tail a vintage classic.  Not necessarily to talk them out of it, but to demonstrate very clearly the real cost associated with those modifications.  All that time and effort and money to remake your bike into some oddball custom will make it much less valuable to anyone else.

Like that guy who butchered up the Eddie Lawson Edition KZ1000 on here about 7 or 8 years ago...

I bought a 73 Z1 in 1995 for $500, not running, took me a few days to revive it, blasting up and down the road, great fun, more fun now then it was in 73.

It is a sad situation, frame could be repaired but there are so many things wrong.
