Given the recent developments in Austria and Germany I have decided not to go through all the noise tests just to be pulled over by the cops every chance they get. This thing is loud and even if I can quieten it down a bit it will still be problematic (especially going to work in the mornings).
I have put about 30km on the bike since installing the exhaust, plus all of the running time while tuning. Basically it's a new system with a bit of colouring on the pipes - which I can polish off if it's really a problem
Given the sorry state of the pound at the moment these things are pretty cheap in Europe. I can probably ship to the states but I'm not sure how much it would cost. If you're outside of Europe and interested then please check out some shipping options and make me an offer. If you're in Europe (that includes the British as well ) then just make me an offer
This is the most recent photo. The exhaust is still on the bike as I don't have a replacement yet, if someone is interested I'll take it off straight away, replacement or not. I you want some more pictures just let me know.
Nice bike and pipes.....just a thought: I believe the noise is generated by the muffler section. What if you got a different muffler that is a little quieter, that way you don't have to replace the whole system, those downpipes look so good. Check out Cone Engineering for some really nice looking cans.
I did think about that but couldn't find anything street legal in Germany tat had a 64mm fitting, and I don't have the skills or tools to make an adapter for smaller fittings. I do really like the downpipes, for some reason not many other systems are quite as clean as this up front.
I ended up getting an Eagle Classic - rumour has it that it's basically a Vance & Hines with a different baffle that is street legal here (no noise test required). The muffler is a lot better fit to the bike, but the downpipes aren't quite as clean/symmetric.
Thanks for the pics Scirocco. Is one of those bikes yours?
I'm still a bit on the fence as it wasn't a cheap system (but they offer a 30 day money back guarantee). To be fair, there was no way I was coming out of this cheap - needed to either spend the money on the exhaust or on the test. Spending the extra cash on hardware rather than giving it to a test centre seemed to make more sense. I'm still a couple of hundred Euros over what I wanted to spend, though
