So I have been planning for a build table for a while and looked at pre-made stuff and sketched my own design. Well surfing Craigslist recently yielded an interesting prospect to start with. I went up just across the SC / NC boarder and met a really interesting person and made the deal. For $180 I got this:
Upon further research is a modified, Mid-70's American Lift industrial table. It was modified and came out of a furniture factory that closed and this guy bought 3 of them. So I first cut some 3/4" table drop ins for the ends which extend the .125" think steel table from 3' x 5' to 3' x 8'. I have a couple extra chocks that I retrofitted and will pin to the table and had to use a couple of bottle jacks to lift it up. The thing is well over 600lbs. Looking at the underside it has a 5.5" Cylinder (2.5" Ram) and 1.5" thick solid steel double scissor lift arms....Turns out it appears that this table was rated for 6,000 lbs from what I can tell from researching the table. Should be enough for bikes.....lol
The motor works, but is a 3 phase 230/460 motor so I knew right away I was going to have to change that. Once I had the table up and supported, started pulling it apart, cleaning it, and researching. Motor was hard to find due to the NEMA and CZ mounting for the pump directly. I kept at it and found a new Baldor 1 hp (Original was 1.5hp) that was on Ebay. Made a deal for $200 shipped and it arrived yesterday.
So I mapped out the electrical and have my plan for rewire. Due to the motor size, I am going to have to reconfigure it and mount the box external of the pan.
So redoing the tank, new flexible cylinder line, and I'll have to bend new hard lines for the reconfig. The bed will be Raptor Lined, and frame painted gloss black. That is it for now more to come.
