Yeah, don't jump on the first thing you come across. You'd be better off with a old one like I have than that little thing.

The thing about lathes is, you will always need a bigger one. I ran a 16x(f-ing long) South Bend at the truck shop I worked at, we still needed a bigger lathe at times.

Something like this, maybe $8-900. Will do anything you need for motorcycles.

I had one of those, couldn't get $450 for it so I parted it on eBay.
That one is way over priced.

I paid for my lathe and mill by buying and selling lathes.

Had some time to kill in town this morning, so I stopped in to see another over-the-hill buddy. After commiserating on our individual medical conditions and how much better it was back in the day when we were younger, he told me about a mill and lathe he's bought a year ago and needed to sell (he buys and sells all kinds of stuff).
He said the mill was a Bridgeport clone, and the lathe is a Southbend, and he wants $400 each for them. He lives in Muncie Indiana, so if anyone's close and interested contact me and I'll tell you how to get hold of him. He don't have a computer.

I've got a Clausing lathe, Briggeport Mill, and an old Miller TiG. ( actually all of them are old but run like new). When i make parts from aluminum, it it's gotta be welded, I use 6061, if not, I either use 6061 or 7075.
