I think that if you filled the pipe with sand and plugged the ends you might be able to get a tighter bend yet. Just use those expanding rubber plugs from McMaster-Carr.

Yosh exhaust "S" bend no doubt....

Not so good on the header though unless of course going with the curved risers...;)

If didn't have to deal with the oil access, wouldn't be that hard but whoa... A whole hell of a lot of bends going on getting around it... :S

Still playing with the idea, remove the pipe to change the oil, not that big of a deal.... And the way I'm collaring the exhaust port connections, exhaust half collars not required...

Trying different PVC bends to see what I like best...;)

I did in fact bring home a bag of sand from work yesterday to see what would happen when filled. I may even fill the 1.5" tube and cap it before I test bend one. I wonder though if clamped rubber plugs would be strong enough to contain any developing pressures.....?

What I think I may need to do, ultimately, is a combination of using the roller to get the smooth uniform exits from the head and down the front cradle and heated hand bending to pull the end of the primary to the right (or left maybe?) You see, I cannot forgo the oil filter access because I also have to worry about my shock linkage (just like you would probably have to OMR) so I can't do it the straight and simple way  Or I could pony up for an actual tubing bender for the tighter bends :woohoo:

Noope, won;t be an issue for this pipe will be going on the stock KZ1000...

Same time, my kerker has plenty of room on the 900 that is modified with monshock... May be the way the lower mount is different due to differences in the designs themselves.

On the kerker, the 4-1 collector end is several inches in front of the mount versus where yours ends right at the mounts... One of the reasons I mentioned previously about the riser lengths seeming long.

Ah well, this is the type of things that make it fun... Fabbing that is... Sand filled bends, you bet only way to get around crinkled corners....

HFT has a 16 ton 1/2" to 3" bender that will most likely be the method I go with... Sand fill and cap, flame heat and bend...

No for the 1000 dollar question... 4-1 collector... flat or 2 on top of 2.... If I chose not to have all the bends and design where remove the exhaust, then go with flat for additional ground clearances...

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, what to do.... :S

Is there an oil filter relocation gizmo for these bikes? I shoehorned a 350 smallblock in an S-10 a few years ago and because of extreme underhood heat i converted the original filter location to the fender well with a two filter system that went to an oil cooler. Talk about easy oil changes.

I go and get some mandrel bent pieces in the diameter and angles I think I can use for my project, then weld it all together. All the same size throughout, just like the manufactured stuff. You can even get U bends in a small radius.
I tried the HF tubing bender years ago trying to bend some 1 1/8" exhaust tube, returned to the store after attempt. Then went to the local muffler shop and they did the bends for $5. Still had some crimp to it so that is when I went to mandrel bends.

I love the thought of the Tri Y header, and I see they are used on the uber expensive ti systems. I'm just not sure if I'm ready for the complexity........yet. I keep forgetting you have a kz1k omr, so yeah, it wouldn't be an issue for the non existent linkage!

While I'm sure it's possible to make a filter relocation kit, where do you stash the external filter?

Motor... where'd you get the mandrels?

I've pricedon the internet and some where better then others. Either case, not cheap so unless truy mass producing, possibly be cheaper to just by an exhaust...

But hey, what fun would that be....

Well with the rotary stuff I do I have bought some stuff from RACING BEAT in LA. But it was expensive. I believe that you can even get some from JC Whitney, although most high quality muffler shops stock or can order some, also some sellers on EBAY of course. Do you have a good Speed shop in town that sells Headers and does installs? Try them for starters as it can be cheapest to get local/ minus freight.

There is a big difference between the HF PIPE bender, and this tubing ROLLER. Completely different animals, and this roller is actually made for tubing.

You could certainly buy a buch of mandrel bends and cobble together an exhaust. I was shooting for a single tube for the primaries, but if I have too much trouble with the bends at the bottom of the front cradle then I'll look at that option. But in all honesty, if I can't make the primary tubes 1 piece, then I should just go buy a header that will work. I'm sure otakar will give me the same advice- just go buy a header! But where's the fun in that?
