When replacing your rubber brakes line with the Teflon ones with the SS braiding,you should wrap them with the black plastic spiral wrap that's available in the U.S. from Radio Shack.I'd imagine electrical supply houses will carry it too. I've found 1/4" spiral wrap fits nicely on brake lines.

Unwrapped lines will act like a slow speed file when rubbing against electrical wires,fuel lines, paint and other brake lines.

It may not look cool with covered lines,but the other parts will thank you.

I like the Galfer braided lines. They have a colored plastic sheath over the stainless braid. Keeps the abraision factor down and also keeps the dirt out of the braid. I hate the look of dirty braided lines. However your tip is a very good idea for those with uncoated lines. Those suckers will wear through paint or wiring insulation in mere months.

I got by brake lines from a company here in ontario for a great price, and they are coated with plastic as well, I go tmine in clear so I can see the ss underneath.

The Goodridge lines have the protective outer sheath in various colors, including black & clear. Mine have the clear sheathing, but I kinda wish I'd gotten the black. oh well.

Heat shrink tubing can also be used. In paintball we used it all the time to keep stainless lines from abrading $1000+ ano jobs.

This is a great idea, I checked out my bike after a recent ride to discover scratches on my brand new oil cooler, those braided lines work beautifully to improve your brakes but they make great round files too!
