Hello everyone,
I hope all is good! I have been racking my brain trying to figure this bike out. I have some sort of idling issue. It will start and idle at around 1000 rpm. Seems like it is running a little rough. Then I crank the throttle and it revs up to 4000 rpm and stays. The carbs have been completely cleaned and rebuilt. Just installed new carb holders last night. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are the carbs fully seated in the carb holders? Are the carb to air box boots soft and correctly installed? Were the throttle cables properly adjusted and lubricated? Are you sure the cables are not hanging up?

Did you check the fuel level in each carburetor using the clear tube method? Were the rubber seals on the enricheners (plungers) soft and pliable, or hard and leaking?

The carbs are fully seated. I have individual air filters on each carb. The throttle cable is not hanging up. I did not check the fuel level in the carbs. I have not heard of that method. The plungers were replaced with new o rings. Thank you for the help.

A hanging idle means the bike is too lean or the sync is way off.  Where are the pilot screws set?  Did you perform a vacuum sync.  Are the carbs rejetted for the pods?

The pilot screws are all set at 2 turns out. I have not done the vaccuum sync. When I rebuilt the carbs, I installed stock jets. I did remove the exhaust baffle as well. What jet size should I use? Thanks again.

Quick update everyone. Again I appreciate all the help. I did the clear tube test on the carb fuel level. It was about a 1/2" from the top of the bowl. I removed the carbs and pulled the bowls and set all the floats at 18.6mm. Put everything back together and now she purs like a kitten. Took it for a ride this morning and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. Got about 1/8 mile from my house and the clutch cable broke at the lever. That's the way she goes. Hopefully someone can use this info. Thanks again for all the help. Any tips on clutch cable adjustment would be awesome.

There are three adjustment points on the clutch cable. The procedure in the fsm should be carefully followed.

It would be a good idea to insure that the release mechanism is clean and well lubricated.
