The whole story........ I drove the ZN around the block and road it up into the trailer. Came back out the next morning and had gas dripping onto the floor, leaky petcock flooded the carbs. Drained the tank and carbs, killed the ignition. Pulled the plugs and rolled the engine over just enough clear the cylinders. Loaded up two more bikes and drove about 90 miles to midohio for the vintage motorcycle days. Unloaded the bikes and rolled the ZN into the shop to address the fuel system when I got back. A new petcock from Partzilla, drained the contaminated oil and refilled. Hopped on the bike to start it up, pulled the clutch handle and about the travel was free play, then hard as a rock. The clutch would not disengage. Both of the cable adjustments were tight and had not slipped. Took the cover off to access the release adjusting screw and arm. The locknut was tight but the lever was now resting at about the 6:00 position instead of the 4 or 5:00. The flats on the arm and shaft had not slipped. Drained the fresh oil and took off the clutch cover. Mic’d all the friction discs and they were all 2.99-3.00mm so no swelled discs from the fuel leak. The needle thrust bearing and washers all looked perfect, both ends of the push rod looked perfect. I rocked the the lever arm back and forth with finger pressure on the clutch side and felt smooth rotary to linear movement. Put it all back together and readjusted the arm, clockwise till just snug, then about half a turn back. The lever arm is now back at 4-5:00 o’clock, the cable adjustments didn’t need anything. The clutch feels just like it should, I can roll the bike in gear with the clutch pulled in so it’s disengaging ok now.. My question after all this is what else could have happened, maybe to the ramp assembly inside the bevel gear cover ? The bike was fine loading into the trailor, it never left the trailor untill I got back home. Then it was not fine......
