After a quick ride home yesterday from work (~2 miles) the top end on my bike was quite hot- I could hear boiling/popping sounds from inside. I've got my timing dialed in, and carbs jetted (a hair on the rich side) so I'm pretty sure it's not running hot due to a lean condition. Would the oil pressure from a stock pump be enough to cool a hot street build, or should I invest in an oil cooler? Is there a high-flow/pressure oil pump available as well?

Most of the late KZ bikes ran an oil cooler. That doesn't mean they are necessary though. I'm not sure about the shaft drive 1100 but with a lot of KZ engines you can install a later oil sump cover pan with the oil cooler takeoffs built in which makes installing a cooler easier. That's what I did with my 750 anyway. If you just ride your bike around in a sane fashion I'd skip the cooler. As a mitigation against overheat abuse you can run synthetic oil which has a much higher vapor temperature compared to mineral oil.
