I bought a set (flange nuts) in a bubble pack at an auto parts chain store. I believe it was Advance. They were cheap.

OP is asking for OE style. They are captured spring washer nut. Flange nuts, we called them wiz nuts, those are easy. He asked for OE style.

Yes, that's correct.  I didn't realize that the OE style captive split washers were so unusual.  I figured I just wasn't looking in the right place.  

Looking at the options so far, I'm considering using either a conical spring washer similar to the Ebay link Mikaw posted, or a "distorted thread flange nut".

Either that, or just regular old separate nuts and lock washers.

Dr. Gamma, where do you get your titanium fasteners? 

 

Hey DOHC the last few times I got some titanium fasteners they came from Titan-X in England. They have a few different styles of fasteners in most common sizes, and they all come drilled for safety wire. Just wish their nuts came drilled for wire. Their prices are reasonable and they ship quick from the other side of the pond!!!! There are all kinds of places now selling titanium hardware and they all are reasonable priced compared to what I used to pay for titanium fasteners 15, 20 years ago!!!!

The captive lock washers were only for ease/speed of assembly, separate washers and nuts will look original. The high priced originals do look like they are from Johnnys Vintage Cycle,  you can see the very small logo in the add.  I paid kind of stupid money for a footpeg stud that had gone missing for my Z1A.  Johnny was brilliant to buy up all the hardware that he did,  must have known someone would want it someday!

Ok, my bad. Then spend the money.

 

If you are not heart set on the OEM. Look into Fuji lock nuts and put a nice flat washer under. It will lock, clamp, but not gall up the fastened item.

When you have a chance check out Belmetric.com  They have an incredible assorted of stuff all metric.  They even have Fuji nuts in all sizes.  Great place to deal with and they ship quickly.  They are my go to place it I need something and can get by with non-OEM.  I used Fuji nuts for several lock nut areas.

I thought I'd add an update.  I ordered some fuji style nuts from a place called MotoSport.

They seem fine, and were not ridiculously expensive.  However, it turns out the stud is not quite long enough to fully engage the lock tabs.  It's close....
