Where do you folks do speed runs in the UK? I never paid much attention to such things until I had a chance to see the movie, "Worlds Fastest Indian" re a Kiwi named Burt Munro. It was possibly my favorite bike movie ever... If you get a chance to see this movie, I suspect you will enjoy it mucho!

Coincidentally I watched it for the first time last night as my gf bought it for me for my birthday. Cool film, and I would certainly enjoy a visit to Bonneville some day B)

The main venues in the UK are RAF Woodbridge near Ipswich and RAF Elvington near York. Both are ex WW2 air bases and have approx 2 mile runways. Woodbridge is also allegedly the emergency landing strip for the space shuttle should it ever need to touch down in the UK.

I'll second that, WG! I saw that movie as soon as it hit the local theater, rented it as soon as it came out on DVD (which also contains the original documentary featuring the genuine article Burt Munro.)

I think that the person that took those pics should have his/her camera given a once over...the background in all of those pics was all blurred and fuzzy looking. :silly:

Different tire pressures depending on 1/4 mile or an all out top speed run? I wasn't aware of the before.
Cool!

Here's to you breaking the double ton AND hitting/exceeding the top speed I previously posted you'd hit! B)

Cool vid! B)

As fast as you were going, and comparing it to what the other bikes sounded like as they went by, it didn't even sound like your bike was at top RPM's?

Nice closing shot in the vid too!

Retro you are right, it's only revving a little over 9000rpm whereas the modern stuff is revving to about 11,000. I think this is to do with the ignition on the bike which is stock apart from Dyna coils, and is probably breaking down at high boost/rpm. Most hi-performance 750 turbos use a Dyna 2000 or similar to improve the spark. My old dragbike 750 turbo had a programmable DTA ECU with two 6 amp coil drivers and fully mappable igntion and that thing used to rev to 11k in a heartbeat, it also made way more power than my streetbike even though the engine was smaller and it ran less boost (760cc and 23psi instead of 810cc and 30psi), although it did have the added benefit of running on alcohol. So the plan is to fit a new DTA S60 unit to the streetbike over the winter to improve the ignition. In addition the S60 has extensive datalogging facilities, progressive boost control and does away with all the other boxes on the bike.
