I pulled up the pic of the backs and zoomed in: the top lines on both appear to say "KZ-?00A", which I thought would be an immediate flag (GPz=D, not A) but that is what the original side covers from my 550 say as well. The full part numbers in the pictures are illegible, at least to me, but they should be 36001-1027 and -1028; some characters that are visible seem to align with the proper part numbers.

I was thinking at first that the ones in the auction might have been aftermarket items from the 1980s or something, like maybe Maier made their own versions at a time when the bikes were more common.

You guys appear to be 100% correct: these are almost certainly repainted OEM side covers.  However, if they have been painted the seller definitely should not be describing them as "NOS".

That looks pretty nice! Maybe we should start a KZRider museum where we accumulate and store these parts.

I mean, we already do to some extent in our garages and workshops, but I'm picturing a warehouse like the one at the end of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'.
