Hi martin_csr, yes, Shannons are highly respected here in Oz.
They are the No 1 go to for insurance for vintage, classic, modified, unusual, rare vehicles and motorcycles.
No other insurance company can match their policies, believe me ,I've looked.
Shannons have been running auctions for many years and are highly reputable , attracting the very best selection of vintage, classic and more stock.
I was very surprised to see that description of the bike concerned, the only explanation I can think of is maybe they have a "new guy" writing the blurb and hopefully he/she will get better at it.
All my vehicles are insured by Shannons and when my z650 build is finished it will be too.
Harley insured by them.

New guy or gal is the only reasonable explanation if it is a highly respected business. Sucks when the world gets to see your beginner's mistakes, I made most of mine in private!

I saw one of your mistakes. The Lshaped bracket the supports the battery box on my 900A4 project was never factory welded on the right side. See photo, you can see where it had been shifting and rubbed the paint off on the high side of the frame tube. My mistake I had it kinda welded without having the battery box in place and I welded it in wrong. Sucks that the frame is finished and now I have to grind it down and re-weld

Nope, can't blame that one on me buddy! I never spent any time in a production welding booth. My very limited welding career was after I joined R&D in 2005, and that was mainly just tacking things together and having a real welder finish the job. Your frame was probably welded after a "smoke break", if you get my drift.

Maybe your the guy that enticed the welder to take that break.

It was the 70s and I think the average age was 22. Pretty much routine that everybody (the cool kids at least) wore dark safety glasses after lunch! Soon after production began a motorcycle magazine was doing an article about the plant . They were doing a tour and interviewing people in the production area when they noticed all the black tire marks on the floor. When asked, one of the test riders named Rob, (blonde hair to the middle of his back and a Toby Keith cowboy hat) told the interviewer "it gets a little loose around here on Friday afternoon!" Made the Quality Control Manager really proud IIRC!
