Where in so-cal are you? Big Bear? I'm in the low lands of so-cal and we have only had two weak rain storms all season. It's VERY dry.

Hi Rick, I don't want to be the one pointing out the obvious here, and I agree with stupid drivers not driving to the conditions but, Black ice is called black ice because its clear and sits on the bitumen, which of course is black, making the ice almost impossible to see until you are on it. Its called black ice all over the world for this very reason.... Hope you've recovered well from Covid.. And you poor buggers struggling from the cold could always move down under....:P < not much snow here at all, a "cold" winter here is around 50 degrees F, and that's only for a few days, haven't worn a jumper or sweater for years ....!!!! {sorry for bragging}...

OK, about the same latitude as the old man - Atlin BC. Seems like it's taking a while for everything to freeze properly this year (assuming that is a recent pic).

Agreed 750R1, ice picks up the color of whatever surface it is on, black, grey whatever. Point is that people will try to use any excuse to cover up their lacking of using due caution in a winter driving environment. Once you live thru winter you should understand that common sense, road conditions and temperatures dictate how one should operate a vehicle, but it just doesn't happen that way.

Yeah, that's how I learned, and I practiced any time I could, and taught my family as well, it saved my life one winter after wiping out on the Hwy 401 in middle of a winter storm.
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

I finally parked my bike on 12/24 when I visited my folks - I'm young enough to ignore the cold, but the state loves to coat the roads in salt and I'm not a fan of orange. I really don't know what to do with myself.

I'm in Canada, but the street sweepers were out on Wednesday. Bikers have been out all week.
