Good post...many KZR members have not explored the potential of the Kawasaki site...for me, the value is found in which parts are still 'active'...hence can be ordered via Jeff :) The only caveats I'd add to your post are (1) that a few models appear to be not available on the Kawasaki site. For example, you ultimately get an error message when searching for Z1A and Z1B models. On the model line, you must insert a '-' between the Z1 and A or the Z1 and B. The model name will initially look like this: 'Z1B' and you should change it to look like this: 'Z1-B'. Click the green arrow to the right and then you will get the exploded diagrams. and (2) the diagrams only cover models that were sold in the US...for example, if a model was sold in the US and Canada, then it'll be in the database...if the following year that same model was only released in Canada, it will not be in the database.

Good topic. There ought to be a permanent link w the various instructions for using the Kawasaki diagrams.

Instead of scrolling down to find the part number, often times you can click the diagram reference number. Doing so will locate & highlite the full part number below - saves time. It doesn't always work but when it does it's very handy.

You have to be careful sometimes when the diagram reference numbers are scrunched together, because you may not click the right ref number.... So be sure you've clicked the correct one.

Something else kinda unrelated is that some diagrams are no longer available such as the carb parts diagrams for some 70s models. In those cases I go to another place, such as CycleParts.com. They have the older diagrams or something.

Yes, the Z1 navigation is peculiar.

The normal method of selecting year 1974 and then clicking to choose Z1 gets a message:
Model not found in the parts catalog.

Same for the normal method of selecting year 1975 and then clicking to choose Z1 gets the same message: Model not found in the parts catalog.

Whenever Z1 diagrams and parts info from 1973 or 1974 or 1975 are desired, I go to model year 1973 and choose Z1.

This returns a long list of 82 models to choose from, including each year Z1. Choosing from this list brings the diagrams for that particular year Z1 on-screen same as usual.
(See image below.)

Not saying it's a better way, but just another way I stumbled onto, which seems easy enough when known about.

Good Fortune! :)
