Great Article Boise! That tells a lot of history. I'd take any of them myself, although I'm partial to the super blue models.

One thing I've been trying to document, I have heard many times that the 750 H2 triple was actually faster than the 900 in stock form. Kaw tried to keep it quiet because it wanted to push the 900 platform. I owned a triple and it just may have been quicker in the quarter mile...
The Kaw List:
Current: 79 KZ1000 A3 MKII, 78 KZ1000 A2, 78 KZ1000 Z1-R, 78 KZ650 SR, 80 KE175
Former: 03 KLX400SR, 99 ZRX1000, 82 KZ750 LTD, 80 KZ1000 A4 MKII, 80 KZ1000 LTD, 78 KZ1000 A2, 74 H-2 750 Triple, 78 KL250

I think the H2 and Z1 were pretty darn close in quarter mile performance. The magazines seemed to vary quite a bit in their tests and I don't really remember a magazine doing a side by side test of the two bikes but if they did, (and they probably did at one time), I'd guess them both to run close to the 12.40-50 range. That was fast for the time. The KZ1000 came out in 1977 and all the magazine tests I remember reported it as slightly faster than the 900.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
