This KZ650 has sat untouched for 10 yrs. I'm going to put gas and a battery in tomorrow. Any bets about running after sitting for 10 yrs. I'm betting it's going to run. I hope.:)
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Well, it looks like it was stored the right way. If they drained the carbs and there were no varmits getting in the airbox or pipes, no reason it wouldn't start after an oil change. Problem is, even a pretty bike like that might be put up for some mechanical reason... they usually are unless someone got scared off the bike. The nice thing about a bike like that is that even if it turns out it needs work, it won't be rust removal which is what I detest about projects. Let us know how it turns out... do the sides of the tank have black striping or paint or is that a photo-effect?

That's a stunning bike !! However, before you even think of hitting the starter button - CHANGE THE OIL. Don't risk damaging such a fine machine by being in a hurry to ride. Goog luck, Ed

Any hint of fooled with paint is a photo problem. This bike is brand new, never had a bolt off of it, right down to the original Dunlop tires.

Ron it only sat for 10 years and you wonder if it will start? Shoot my 77 C-1 sat neglected for 15 years with bad gas in the tank and it only took me about 3 hours to get it running again. Is this the latest addition to your herd or are you fixing it for someone?

It's one of my collection I bought for $2000 back in 1994 and it's been sitting a long, long time. I guess $2000 is a lot of money for a KZ650, but this bike was never fooled with. No add ons, nothing changed anywhere which is very rare. As to will it run? Well 1810 mile KZ650 is now 1831 miles so yes it ran, and ran great. Dang that's a nice bike. Just like they were in 1978.
