looks great! My 79ST is in about the same shape as when you started...can I ask what you gave for it?? I may be getting rid of mine. With 4 kids, and 7 vehicles (including the KZ) I'm having trouble keeping up with all the maintenance! currently three are down hard. My KZ runs O.K., but I wouldn't stretch the truth and say runs right! I'm kinda curious what I might be able to get for it... but only a little curious

I bought the 79 ST for $275. It included a NEW IN THE BOX Kerker 4 into 1, a Z1R seat, an extra tail piece, an extra J model tank, a set of new K&N pods and a new jet kit. I ended up selling all that stuff on eBay and the Z1R seat went for over $400 alone... I actually think I broke even. I bought an 80 for $70. The guy had left the carbs off and the rings were frozen. The bike is otherwise in far better shape except he had taken a can of black Krylon to it to give it the "stealth" look and the thought of cleaning up all that paint is keeping me from diving in bwhahaha

Hey George, nice job! I have my 1000 to do next but I will have to seach around for a decent heat resistant spray paint for my exhaust headers and mufflers. Do you know of any?

The pipes on my ST bike were painted black by MAC and they used ceramic paint of some sort. I have used various high temp paints and none of them did very well over time on pipes. I generally end up painting rusty chromed pipes and the paint won't adhere all that great even with scuffing up of the paint surface. I would try some bike-specific spray paint like PJ1 or something along those lines as the stuff from Autozone isn't any better than BBQ paint from the hardware. Sure as I say this, someone will chime in and tell us how he has had perfect durability with his BBQ paint! bwhahahaha
