You might have a good point about starting to use a dyno for some jetting help. Its hard sometimes trying to do a high speed run to get a good plug reading on the main jet. I have lost some of my nerve when it comes to doing a long high speed run in the last few years. Coming up on a car or truck at over double the speed they are doing makes me think now if they might do something stupid. I find myself now backing off the throttle instead of flying by WFO!!!! I guess old age does catch up with you!!!!

Dr. Gamma wrote: Here's a little trick for people who keep stripping out the 6mm cam cap bolts. I have used it for years when installing BIG lift camshafts. The stock cam cap bolt is 6X45mm. Well get yourself some 6X50mm or 6X55mm bolts. Start bringing your cam caps down with the longer bolts. That way you are not grabbing just a few threads. When you get your cam caps down to within a 1/8 inch of the head. Remove the longer bolts ONE at a time and install the normal 6X45mm bolts. This should stop 99% of the people from ever strippng the cam cap threads in their heads. I have never told many people about doing cam caps this way. So consider yourself one of the fortunate few!!!!!

So could the bike be ran with the longer 6x50mm or 6x55mm cam cap bolts installed?? Please lmk. Thank you!

Dr. Gamma's technique makes sense and I'm sure it works well, but whatever you do don't let the bolts hit bottom. If that happens you can very easily strip out the threads in the bike. Ed

Can't believe it has been over four years since my buddy from Australia, Wayne George came to visit me here in AZ!!!! Wayne and his friend Pat stopped by for a chat and a side trip to that big hole in the ground we have out here called the Grand Canyon!!! It was great to see someone in person whom up until that time I only talked to on the phone or by emails!!!

Can't believe how fast time flies bye the older you get!!!!! Hey Wayne its about time for you to make another trip to Arizona!!!!

Wayne and I with my at the time unfinished Kz1000 Superbike.

Wayne going through all the big buck race parts he ordered for his Kz Superbikes back in Oz.

Wayne's buddy and rider, Pat showing the typical Aussie attitude!!!!

I have read about everything Smokey has written over the years!!!!!!

I got my rulebook reading skills from his writings over the years!!!!

Most times Smokey wasn't cheating, he just found a loophole in the rules!!!

If it don't say you can't, that means you can!!!!!

The man was a mechanical genius. The more and more I got into building motors, the more I understood what Smokey was saying!!!!

His autobiography is a must read for anyone connected to motorsports!!!!!
