79 MKII, that was exactly what I was looking for, Thanks! The guy from OMP got back to me and echoed the same thing. The unit I bought is the correct one for my application. Red to battery, black to ground, and the yellow wires to the stator. Simple.

I will make sure and post a pic of the custom sprocket as soon as it shows up Leon ;) In fact, when I get home I'll post a pic or the new RR unit for ya. Its at least something! As far as being around, yeah, the new job will guarantee I will be home every afternoon and weekend, so no excuses! I should call D&G and find out what the schedule is on my sprocket. One thing he mentioned to me that I hadn't even thought of is the additional length needed for the clutch actuator when using an outboard bearing support that far away from the cases, and potential interference of the sprocket with the clutch actuator. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

u shouldnt have any interferance issues with the actator.you'll just need to come up with a longer shaft.
i'm going through that right now,(i'm using Irish Wills plate too.)but i'm switching to a hydo clutch.
i am also moving the plate in closer to the sprocket.maybe u should give that some thought. do u realy need it out so far for clearance? what offset did u say u ordered?

That's good to hear Mark. If you're moving the plate closer to the sprocket, then you must have needed to machine the bearing carrier down, right?

The offset is 1.239" Mark. If it looks like I can move the support plate in, then I will. I really won't know until I can assemble the bottom end of the engine and bolt it in the frame completely before fitting the support plate. Keep in mind my frame is wider, so things will fit different on my bike than on yours B)

i see u r running a 1.2" offset. so u probably cant move the plate in. i am only running a 5/8" offset, so i'm thinking i will just move the plate in untill the bearing sits into the sprockets bearing cup. i had to cut the plate to fit in past the frame. then i'll have to dream up another support, since I had to cut the frame support bolt hole(on the back end of the plate) off.

I had the same interference at the bottom rear corner of the plate during mock up. I assumed it was because my frame was modified. I started to grind away to fit it, but stopped until I could get the right sprocket. I didn't want to take material off only to find out I didn't have to later.

I really wasn't thinking about the fact that I could assemble the lower end of my engine. I think I have everything I need to out it together. Hmmmm, looks like a good Sunday plan!!!

Do you have your chain to frame clearance figured out? That got me once before. The chain has to be out far enough to clear the tire but in far enough to clear the frame by the footpegs (stock footpeg location).

Your frame is so heavily modified that I'm guessing you already have it taken care of.....just wanted to mention it!

It was a long time ago and kinda far back in the thread this was discussed. With the SSSA, tire to chain clearance is built in. I can't move the wheel or the sprocket, and they're made to clear each other. Now, if I had modified the swingarm to fit the frame, I would have also had to worry about chain-frame clearance. But since I widened the frame to fit the swingarm, its automatically out of the way, or at least I THINK it is! I will need to check the area of the chain run once I have the sprocket to make sure there is no conflict when the chain moves up with suspension/slack.
