WooHoo .... not really a project anymore .... took my old KZ out for her maiden voyage today !!! ... blew off a half a day of work ... went and picked her up from the shop and proceded to do about a 150 miles or so today. Runs and handles great .... does have a slight exhaust leak and the clutch slips just a tad under heavy acceleration. Nothing that's gonna keep me from riding the rest of this season !!!

Man oh Man ... today was some great payoff for 4 months of dedication to this old bike .... I think, now, that my time was very well spent !!!! I had many moments when I was really wondering why I was doing all this ... lol

I'm still planning on doing some more work to her .... but that will have to wait till the snow flys ........

Hey! You've done almost exactly what I have planned for my 440. Great work! It really gives me something to look forward to when I get mine done... too bad that its probably going to be winter before its ready to ride, but thats allright I guess.

I'm currently in the process of stripping my 440 down to the frame in order to repaint it. I was wondering what kind of paint you used to paint the frame with? And did you use a clear coat?

...and I love your Fiero. I've always wanted one and after I get moved into a bigger place I'm planning on looking for one as a project car. I've currently got a black 89 LeSabre T Type that keeps me busy till then

Thanks Alibi, I was afraid I wasn't gonna get mine done before winter too .... so I pussed out and let the pros finish my wiring ... lol ... and so now, $300 later, I'm riding. I really don't feel too bad 'cause I did everything else myself ... would've done the wiring too if I wasn't trying to beat old man winter

As for the frame paint .... I used Duplicolor high temp primer and semi-gloss engine enamel black for everything. No I didn't use any clear. The rattle can black is just sooooo easy to touch up .... clear makes things a bit harder.

Clutch may correct itself, but it's real quick and
easy to adjust the clutch pushrod slack
(believed to be a routine maintenance item),
which might eliminate the slipage.
And thereafter, should also assure
a little cable slack at the lever end.

There's hopefully a removeable plate
allowing access to the clutch pushrod adjuster
(ala Z1, KZ900 and KZ1000),

Is the year model of your KZ750 known?
[might have missed this in the postings],
which could help determine which type
of adjuster is fitted.
One type uses a nylon screw
(loosen lock-nut, turn out 1/2 turn
from lightly seated, tighten locknut).
The other type (ball-ramp) is the reverse,
being 1/2 turn in from all the way out).

Thanks Patton, ... my bike is a 1980 KZ750H1 LTD. I'm gonna have to read up in my service manual about the clutch pushrod adjustment !!! It does, indeed, have an access plate to the pushrod.

Hey, thanks for the paint tip. I'll be looking around online before I decide on something for sure, but your method sounds the easiest (short of just leaving it alone )

It'll be a couple years before I get a Fiero, probably when I graduate from my university. Unless I run across a deal too good to pass up then I'll just store the car at my parents farm for a bit. Always wanted one though so its first on my lengthy list of cars to play with

OH MY!

Yeah ... Oh My Oh Well ... Anyways, I've been collecting parts like new fork seals, tach seal, superbike handlebars and a more-or-less complete parts bike from The Gringo. I have two automotive projects to complete before I can get back into my bike ... But soon ... very soon I'll be back to work on my KZ. Probrably just after Christmas is my schedule. Can't wait !!!
