No problem, you´re welcome. But I´d still be very interested to hear what your engine number is - I never knew there were any 650 engines that had both hy-vo (multiplate) cam chain and kickstart. Like I said I thought the first 650 with hy-vo chain was the F2 (no kickstart).

Btw, on the bottom right side of the cylinder block there´s a number, does it say 652 ccm?

Ok OnkelB (u must have belgian in ur roots if u call urself this :P, onkel means uncle in belgium :P)

anyway.. ill check the engine number tonight and post it.. i don't have it with me here at work..

and yea it says 652ccm on the cilinder block :)

btw I was a bit dissapointed when opening the engine and suspecting HUGE piston heads.. these look like lawnmower cilinders! :P (i might need to explain that this is my first attempt in engine rebuild :P)

Also in Denmark, that´s where I´m from - no connection to Belgium as far as I know.

The reason I asked about the ccm markings was because I was wonering if your engine was an old style 650 bottom end with a 750 (or late style 650) crank and top end.

The C4 must have been a transition year where the High-Vo chain was used and the kickstarter is still present. I see the alternator cover is similar to the '80s models as well.

Any idea why the kickstarter was ditched on later models?

Small update, still waiting on some parts to start the rebuild of the engine with fresh seals..

Replacing the shocks to be able to rebuild the Koni shocks

Jep, real KONI's

They look scruffy though, will have to do some work on them

In the meantime look at these pretties, bought on Ebay for 10 dollars

Nice Pictures Kzwolfsr!

Well after a few weeks of waiting for parts and waiting for my father in law to feel a bit better after a motorcycle trip went sour before his eyes in the "black forest, germany" (a bloke from the gang was driving too fast and missjudged the corner, slammed into an upcomming car and died on the tarmac) So dad in law didnt feel like doing alot for a few, and rightfully so.. :(

Now, back on track, we put in a new chainguide, fixed the rear caliper (the bike "rolls" quite nicely now before it didnt want to move that much..u had to put in some extra weight) spraypainted some parts of the frame (will do bigger overhaul later when i get another bike)

fixed the valve clearence, was 0.0 on 5 of eight valves.. NOT good. bought 5 shims for 60 dollars :P rediculous price if u ask me. But i had them straight away..

bolted the engine back to the frame, added the "surface" cleaned carbs (will do those after the summer with a total rebuild, but now i wanna RIDE! :P)

started up last night, battery a bit low so used the kickstart, 3 kicks and there it was..

VROOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR 3000 revs.. (choke was on full :) )

awsome feeling, that, after having the engine open for the very first time, i allways believed that the bike would explode after ignition :P (yep not much believes in me own skillz yet :P )

gonna do a test run tonight, just around the block.. Will try to get the missus to film me :P
and ill get some more piccies..

editmode: WEEHEEE finally got my Clymer Book, one day too late for the main overhaul (i had to use the crappy haynes book) My god the Clymer's soo much better ..
