I noticed that I posted in this forum already but never introduced myself in this area here.
I'm Kevin, living in Germany and riding a KZ750E. It's originally from my father and I know this bike since I was a kid. I always liked it since I anyway have a weakness for vintage things but I never dreamed of riding it myself. He hasn't been touching it for a long while and after I did my license he eventually gave it to me. Two years passed since then and I spent many hours fixing various things to bring it back to life, from the carbs, the electrics to the mechanics and so on. While my job has a lot to do with modern technology I like to work on things with the least of it in my free time. Now the bike is running reliably and I'm happy that I can enjoy this time with our long time family member.
Finding such an experienced community around these bikes is truly invaluable as it, next to its wonderful spirit, preserves so much information which would be otherwise long lost. I only experienced something similar when I still had my BMW E30. I hope I can contribute to this sometime too with the experiences that I collected so far throughout this journey.

So long, have a safe ride!

Welcome. Bike looks great, the background is just as cool. I can almost envision Steve McGueen ripping across the rolling hills jumping the barb wire fencing.

Welcome Kevin. Great looking bike !  Love the seat and the paint and bodywork is awesome. Are those steel braided brake lines? Thinking about putting them on my 1980 KZ750E1

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!

Thanks! The seat was redone quite a long time ago. The paint though is still fresh from last year. Luckily I found someone who sells the golden pinstripes as decals which made the job much easier and cheaper. It overall certainly has some modifications done by the previous owners. The handlebar I think is from a Z1. The exhaust is obviously a 4-in-1 (with a wonderful sound) and the luggage rack was self made by a previous owner who seemed to be quite a talented welder.
The brake lines are steel braided, yes. The front ones have been on like forever and I put one on for the rear brake as well last year. The feeling is great with those.

Most Definitely!

Germany has some areas that are quite popular for motorbike tourism, south-west Germany for example where I'm from. That obviously also opens quite some debates because locals on the country side feel annoyed by the noise of loud and reckless riders. This already has resulted in a few speed limits or even road blockades specifically for motorbikes on certain roads. It's quite a shame but looking at how ridiculous some people ride it's not a surprise.

Welcome Kevin! I lived near the Mosel vineyards back in the 80's. About the same time when your KZ was new. I had a BMW R-100RS back then and it took me all over the place. Frankfort, Trier, up and down the Mosel valley. Wonderful roads to ride.
Your bike looks very nice. Any pics of your bike travels? Or getting it into riding shape? We love pics.
