Hi all!

I was just gifted a non-running KZ650, and am starting out getting it going. This is a first bike for me, I don't even have a license yet! It should be a fun pandemic project.

I need a carb top and a gasket for the ignition housing face, not sure what you call that. I need a *ton* of other things as well, but these two things strike me as oddly specific and possibly difficult to find. Any tips for getting started?

I'm probably going to be harassing you guys with a ton of annoying nooby questions as I work through this, please be patient with me! And hello!

Howdy. It helps to know exactly what 650 it is.
Model identification. jarlef z650 . also, CycleChaos.com.

Z1Enterprises.com has maintenance & other items for the KZs.
The same engine cover gasket was used on all KZ650s & 750-4s. see link below.

Here's the engine covers diagram for the 1981 KZ650-CSR.
Pulsing coil gasket = 11060-1053. click part number for the cross-reference.

Dang, Martin is really on it this morning.
Also, depending on exactly which model you have, there may be a factory service manual you can download for free here at KZR. They are under the Articles tab.
It is important to know exactly which year and model you have, as there were some significant changes in the 650 line during its manufacturing life.
Oh, and welcome aboard.

So I got some numbers, anyone want to help me figure out what these mean?

The frame has: KZ650C-011245 on the sticker and right below (left of?) the sticker in the frame itself.

The engine has: KZ650BE057424

Does this mean I have a KZ650-C2? That's what I gather from the KZ650.info serial numbers.

Agree, the numbers you have posted would make is a 1978 C2. I am pretty sure the build date for it would be 09/77

I guess it is a silver color, but with the age of the paint it looks like a sea foam green, hahaha. That threw me off!
