I recently purchased this 1982 KZ750 Spectre. I have owned Hondas and Suzukis before, but this is my first Kawasaki. It is also the oldest bike I have ever owned as everything else has been early 90s-mid 2000s. It's in decent shape aside from one missing muffler and some other odds and ends.

Welcome aboard! Do NOT use Phillips screwdrivers on the Kawasaki. Those screws that look like Phillips are actual Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) and using a Phillips screwdriver on them will damage the screw heads. If you need more info just ask, but Phillips screwdrivers can very easily be modified so they are JIS shaped. Ed

I might be wrong, but it does not look like that set includes the large JIS #3 size. That is the size that is used most often on the KZ (all the case screw for example), so if the set doesn't include it the set won't help you very much. You might better off making a JIS bit from a Phillips bit. I found that my home made bits actually fit the screws a little better than the Vessel bits I bought. If you grind the very tip off the Phillips screwdriver bits I think you will find they fit very well. The key is to grind a little and check the fit, then grind a little and check the fit, etc. until the bit is a perfect fit. It takes a little time, but you only need to do it once.
