Good to see another Twin belt drive owner on the website.

I have been working on mine a little at a time since it came home in January.

I am riding any chance I get - with 3 kids the bike sometimes does not work out.

I was thinking of changing out the handle bars on my K1 - where did you get the bars? Did you use risers to keep the same cables?

My bars have a slight bend (looks like a dropped issue) and I was thinking about a change?

Any help you can offer would be great.

You have a manual for it! I have been looking for one for months! I bought my 1983 twin KZ750 Belt Drive earlier this year and finding out how to fix and buy parts for this is a job in itself. Congrats on yours. I love mine. I am slowly getting it together. But I can ride it now and that it what matters most.

I haven't actively looked for one yet. Last night I took the rear turn signals apart and tightened them up- fixed a wire- I see that eventually I might need one- rear brakes might be coming up- plus routine maint...right now I gotta learn to ride safetly and well!!Lemme know if you find one- there must be one posted somewhere!?!

Spotted it! There was something I couldn't put my finger on until just now. The belt model has a centerstand! Something not seen on the twins since the '79 model.

You are just to good! I had not even noticed the centerstand, probably because I wasn't expecting it to be there, since (like you said) 79 was the last year for it.
I'll hang my head in shame now :blush:

so-along the "keep it original" lines- I think the handlebars are original- but was the luggage rack or sissy bar (that I removed?) I kinda like the cleaner look- after I drop it the first time- THEN I'll remove the engine protectors!!

Just ordered Clymer, oil and filters- I'll change brake fluid tomorrow!
Next week local shop will check it over- I'm too new to trust myself on tension (belt) cable wear, rear brake wear etc...
So far it is FUN- I'm a 59 yr old guy with a 19 year old s$#t-eating grin on my face. Everytime I walk in from a ride I got this smile from down deep!

Those cheap SuperBike bars from AZMotorsports.com - got 'em on the 750. Got the "Daytona" model for the 400.

As for cables, no they weren't really a problem. The front brakeline on the other hand, is pretty tight. A bit much of a bend for my comfort, so I ended up re-doing the brakeline. The master cylender is also close to the tach, but it fits.

It's WAY more comfortable with the soooperbike bars...
