Me? I am a structural steel welder. Started my work life as a Draftsman and Machinist. Got bored with sitting around and schooled again in HVAC and worked for 10 years in that field. That eventually led me to work in Florida for a few years but missed the mountains and moved back to Tennessee. While I was gone to Florida, the HVAC industry in TN. became depressed, so I went back to school and became a AWS certified welder. Love my job and profession. Why I did not become a welder earlier I don't know.

Worked as a motorcycle/auto mechanic for the first 20 years, then got into Design and Drafting for the oil & gas industry and the industrial chemical industry. My last regular job was with an engineering company doing mechanical/process design and CAD for Bio-Diesel and Solar Projects.Life was excellent when gas was over $4/gallon. :) Now I've been unemployed for almost a year and I started up my own small mobile business repairing GM Speedometers/Instrument clusters on 2003-2007 cars ,trucks and SUVs for individuals, repair shops, body shops, insurance companies and new/used car dealerships.I also do classic car restoration on the side.I'm currently building a 69 Camaro (seen in the background of some of my bike pics)and I also have 2 66 Impalas.

I've been doing surveying work for civil construction for 29 years. The last 11 years working for a civil contractor in the Lower Mainland in BC Canada. If you've been in Vancouver lately, and driven down Cambie street, you've driven over top of some of my work. The company I work for had the contract to move all of the underground utilities (poo pipes, storm water pipes, water lines etc) out of the way for construction of the new cut and cover transit tunnel. I'm outside all day every day. It rained every day but 2 so far this month. That really sucks.

I am a retired Air Force Flight Engineer/Aircraft mechanic... 2,600 hours on a c-141B (cargo aircraft) and over 3,500 hours on the KC-10 Extender (Air refueling tanker/cargo/etc), Instructor,Flight Examiner etc. The last few years I worked for the TALCE (Tanker Air Lift Control Element) mostly presidential support/last couple of wars. I had a great time and would do it all over again! Now that I am retired I make plastic (extruder type) for the automotive industry, mostly under the the hood stuff.

I am manager of a small but busy hard rock quarry in NE Fife in Scotland from my office i can see the famous links golf course at St Andrews.
I started out in the building trade and ended up in quarries by accident , i started out on machines and worked my way up through the ranks to become manager ten years ago.

It can be a hard job what with extreme's of weather and all the difficulties involved in making small rocks out of large rocks but i do enjoy it ' i couldn't do it otherwise.;)

WoW! Lots of mechanics on here! I am a logistics coordinator for a fortune 500 electronics company based in Japan. Our factory producues parts like isolators, resonators, chip-capacitors, monolithic capacitors, inductors, etc...etc...etc....our parts are in just about anything and everything from cars, cycles, phones, PC's, medical supply etc.... My biggest customer is RIM, producuer of the Blackberry.

I don't make the parts, but I am the one who orders them and gets yelled at by the OEM when parts aren't on their dock and production is stopped.

Do I love it? Hell no, but it helps pay the bills. Way I see it, my job is CONSTANTLY getting in the way of living my life and everything FUN!!!
