So I am responsible for maintenance and new work in a small company which belongs to an American group specializing in lead. I am an industrial electrician and I have spent most of my career in large companies as an installer, site manager, works manager. now, I have fun programming the automatons and screens that equip the factory machines.

Auto mechanic. Currently at Volvo. No specialization, do a bit of everything (except transmission teardowns, that's mainly a trans shop or domestic brand thing now a days).

Was at BMW for a few years but then Covid hit and I was part of the downsizing. I suspect that's due to my inability to work with the foreman...but probably more likely about some of the things I said to him in regards to that :)

Worked at a variety of other dealers over the years; Ford, Honda, Toyota. A couple of independent shops.

I know alot of the old guard here are always talking about how the industry is awful and you should do something else, but I'm happy doing it. There's good days and theres shit days but that's anything you do. The pay is great, I'm not going to be replaced by a robot anytime soon, and I'd rather be chasing weird electrical problems or elbow deep in an engine than sitting at a desk and smashing a keyboard.

Plus I get to buy tools. Not as much as I used to...but there's an immense amount of satisfaction ripping open a big drawer filled with things. Especially when someone says "I don't know how to get that" and you say "I have the tool for that."

Doesn't mean you have to lend them, but you can at least let them know you have it :)
