I cannot find anything -- did Kawasaki leave this oval-shaped open hole at the top of the Z1 dashboard or does something go there?
HERE'S ANOTHER EXAMPLE -- big hole at the top of the dashboard, just like on my bike:

Hmmm.... got me to thinking of the social scene back then in the early 70s when these bikes ruled the streets and hippies flourished with their pot, and beer, and cigarettes....maybe you put your weed in that hole there, then chase it with keys so the cops don't get suspicious when they bust you for doing 100 in a 20. Lots of tokers back in them days.
Seriously did Kawasaki leave a dang hole in the dashboard? I dont do that 420. I *could* be coaxed to put some keys in there if it would get a few laughs.

[Re: Z1 900 Super Four]
BETWEEN THE TWO METERS WAS AN "IDIOT LIGHT" COVER. THIS HOUSED THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE WARNING LIGHT CLUSTER. THE IGNITION SWITCH HAD THREE POSITIONS. OFF, ON AND PARK. ABOVE THE SWITCH WAS A SMALL HOLE. A STICKER ABOVE THIS CLAIMED IT WAS A KEY HOLDER. HOWEVER, IT WAS NEVER USED AS SUCH. NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD HAVE LEFT THEIR KEY IN THERE! THEY OBVIOUSLY HAD NEVER HEARD OF BIKE THEFT IN JAPAN!
