I have seen different types of drywall tape get brittle and tear or fall apart over time.

Great post Ed! The only thing I wonder about is the cost of the material the gentleman used to make the post. I would take a guess at $50.00. At that point, I think it becomes a situation of diminishing returns. Would it be wiser just to invest the $50.00 in a used replacement cover? I don't know. On the other hand, if the material has a long shelf life, it can come in handy for other applications or restorations. The guys did an incredible job on the part. Gotta take my hat off to him. Very good knowledge to have. Now, if he can only show how to reproduce the whole cover  That would be even more awesome.

Hello Bill
It had been at least 2 years since I accessed it, Read it and used the techniques in it, It was best I recall relatively simple and inexpensive, I just now went and looked for it, didnt see it, BUT, there have probably been at least 2 site software upgrades since then ( A Guess ) I would say, PM Patton ask him where the Tech Article on Side Cover repair is, Best I recall, it only cost me $15 or so and I had left over stuff.Sorry!!
