Just got a quote of $86 from a radiator shop. Guess I'm doing it myself as I'll be selling this tank when I'm done with it and would like to make a profit...

I paid $100 for my local radiator shop to de-rust the inside, pressure test the tank, double epoxy line it, and strip the paint. Money well spent in my opinion. They're experts and everyone in town recommends them. I shouldn't ever have to worry about the tank again.

Por15 has a motorcycle tank kit. 3 part system. $45 at Napa Auto Parts. Works great have never had an issue with it. Recommended by everyone that uses it. Results may very depending on the condition of the tank.

I tried soda blasting the tank and it didn't work on the rust. Removed the few patches of paint quite well, but did not do a thing on the rust.

Guess I have to look out for muriatic acid (apparently muriatic acid is hydrocholoric acid!?!?), any ideas of where to get that here in Commiefornia? I feel like I might be required to buy a permit first...

Try a pool supply store. I think you can still get it at hardware stores as well (H.D., Lowes, OSH ect.)

I use The Works toilet bowl cleaner inside a rusty tank. Rinse it out thoroughly and dry it right away. $3.00 at Dollar General.
This will work on sealing the tank and keep it good from now on:

Correct Adam, I got it at Home Depot, no questions asked. Have yet to try it out - it's alot more expensive than The Works toilet bowl cleaner, might have to give the Works a shot first...
