What color????

I am getting ready to paint my bike.
Not that the person that painted this bike before I bought it did not do a great job, it is just I am not a Turbolicious kind of guy. So I am putting my old 5gal tank from my 78 on it and want to paint it the original black w/gold 78 theme, my wife want the original green w/gold and says it will look more original because no one had the black ones back then and all you saw was the green ver.
Just asking for your opinion before I send off to paint.

Don't know about the paint but Wholly Crapola :woohoo: that beauty is just whacked...
How about some more info on the turbo build...

See plenty of black KZ's these days and as beautiful as your build is, go with something that really is going to pull a viewer in (translucent, pearls, two tone etc...) for a closer look where they just go...

Im with OMAR on this one, I don't think I would care what the paint is, I would be to blown away by the bike itself!! But it is far from "stock" so I personally would do something just as radical on the paint..

I am partial to black. but the guys are right that builds needs something exotic to mach the motot possibly black metallic with copper pearl factory style stipe

Given the choice between black and green paint, I'll take black paint any time. BTW, I agree that you don't need the Turbolicious stickers. That exhaust pipe is like a giant chrome arrow that says "Look at the freakin turbo, right here!"

Where in Texas are you at? I wouldn't mind setting eyes on this bike in person. Nice ride, even in red.

If you can get it painted as original with the big tank, either black or green would be great looking. As your wife said, there weren't that many black ones around. Of course now there are lot of black ones, but few that were done right. Get it right it will be great looking in either color.

Thanks for the input, I am think of going OEM theme Peral metel flake black, with gold, with just a little off to say it is not a stock paint job. Look at tank and is this totaling off?

1075, welded, under cut, Dyna 2000 /w accell coils, S&S supper b carb, lowered 3.5" in front and 2" in back(it came with 10.5 struts, will lower with custom made shocks to about 11"), Rayjay turbo set to 10lb, everything works well but had a fouling plug problem that i think i found(leaky manafoild gasket). I do not get great gas milage so that and that I like the bigger tank is why I am going with it.
I bought from a painter so the TURBOLICIOUS in painted in......

oh, and on the tank mamybe a little shadowing and little smoke effect off of the gold, to enhance the OEM look not change it.

Some shocks off a 650 will lower it. Id be putting a longer swingarm on it so I wouldnt be wearing it if I grabbed a big hnadfull in first gear. Im partial to factory original paint but I do have a black one and a dark blue one

If youre going with the kz tank id go with the green and gold myself.
yeah i can still remember all the z1s running around wearing origional colors as a kid thinking how they looked like every other z1 running around,same thing with the kz 900s/1000s .
But now that that you dont see them every day on every street corner I kind of miss seeing the origional colors.
Not to mention i know of a very mean 78 a2 painted lumnious red with a skinny ass 120 tire on back with a stock length swingarm ,stuffed with a 1385 and a lock up clutch and a rack of 36 flatsides and a kerker that you would think was a basically stock bike if you didnt look carefully.
As the owner has told me on more than one occasion he has no problem realing in fish with it! :evil: :woohoo:
