Topper wrote: I had some rust in my tank and used some off the shelf rust disolver from the local auto parts store to remove it.

It worked well, but created some pin hole leaks in my tank that let the gas seep through and ruined my paint.

I coated the inside of the tank with Red Kote and had it repainted. It's a great product, very easy to use and a whole lot cheaper than a radiator shop. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Red Kote.

not to be a stick in the mud here, but in my experiance anyway a pin hole in a gas tank is a sign of bigger impending issues.
i dont want to be rolling down the road and suddenly have a fireball develop between my legs! buy a differant tank

Thanks Wagonmaster!:) :)
I went ahead and bought 4 lbs. from Greg.
I am a little "Fuzzy" though about how much powder to add to how much water?
the " Recipe" thats on the site is geared more towards boats I think.
Also, recipe says soak 1 hr. than also says 24 hrs.Thats unclear to me,sorry.
Call me a detail pest, but I like specific details/ guidelines ya know?
Please let me know how yours turns out ,what recipe you used and how long you soaked yours.
Thanks Again

I just finished treating mine with the creme 3 part system. I didn't know of any alternative methods.

A friend of mine who is restoring a Yamaha 650 twin bought 5 gallons of that Metal Rescue stuff. All I can say is "wow." He started with sheets of rust flaking off every time you tapped the tank, and if you look in it now, it's like new metal on the inside. No coating required. He watched that exact same video above, and figured it was cheaper than hunting down a new tank. I have personally seen the results of that stuff, and it truly is amazing. That stuff really works!

There is no way your tank is worse than mine was.:P After 2 failed Por15 coats and lots of welding holes shut I ended up going with Caswell for my final attempt. Have to say the Caswell is a god send and sticks to anything. They even advertise (and I believe them)the their coating will go over other failed liners. If your tank is rust just clean with ascetone and put in the Caswell. It will bake your tank tighter than a frogs ass and last forever.

Finally got the tank done.

It looks good and the inside has a green coating in it but no rust haven't put gas in it of any thing els other than hot water to flush it out.
