just got my trim pieces from the painter this evening. promised to post some pics.. bad lighting in my bedroom.
picture of tail piece in better lighting... still doesn't do the metalflake justice... going to let pieces set and cure a few day's before they go back on... weather will be turning cold tomorrow anyway.. and final cost was 620.00
more pics will come when pieces are back on..

I went with the expensive guy. I build for me, not for resale and that goes for my cars and trucks too... none of which have a decent paint job, lol.
As you all know though, these bikes and parts are getting more expensive every year. Parts and whole bikes are being shipped to Australia, Germany, England and Japan like mad. The local bike boneyard has one big bore KZ frame and no engines left. He shipped everything out of country.
Anyway, I stopped in today to check the paint progress. So far he said he's gone with one coat of etching primer, one coat of epoxy sealer, two coats of color and one coat of clear. He hasn't even color sanded yet and the paint is stunning and very deep in the sun. He says he wants the coats to relax during the weekend and then color sand and five more coats of clear!!!! He flipped the tank over in the sun and the bottom is just as beautiful as the top. Supposedly the guy who did the body work is 45 year veteran and I belive it, he's about 60. No filler but a skim coat after he stud welded and pulled the dents out. He even asked for the tank badges a week ago to make sure all the tank lines are 100% correct.
This is the color I went with after a weekend with 5 books of paint chips. I'ts Aston Martin Magma Red.

Here's another picture. I was going to have him stripe it but after seeing it in real life, we both decided to keep it clean.

What you can't see in these pictures is the metal flake that makes this deep red pop in the sun. Plus, 'aint no one going to have this same color on thier bike or car.
BTW, I may not be 100% correct on the number of coats or manner of laying down except that it will have 6 coats of clear. I'm no painter. I'll leave this stuff to the pros. You get what you pay for and the owner of this shop told me he'd treat it as his own and so far he has. 'nough said.
