There was a company named "Lubri-Tech" that made motorcycle paint that was supposed to be an exact match. They were a division of Henry Industries Inc. 7106 Barry Ave., Rosemont, Illinois 60018. Do you have any way to map the old Lubri-tech color codes to current paint? I have a chart that shows the following codes for Moondust Silver: First Coat=White Pearl Basecoat : UC-16-300; Second Coat=Moondust Silver 1 : KS-16-100; Final Coat=Clear Topcoat : CL-16-800.
If you can figure out how to map the codes I have them for a bunch of 1970's KZ's including the 4 coat sequence for my '77 KZ650C1 Metallic Regal Blue.

I am not much of a painter but I do know that MANY OEM paint applications use a silver base then a color coat and then the clear coat. A paint match place with the computer scanner really won't do a great job matching. Trust me on that... I learned. I had a 2001 Nomad which is kind of burgundy and the color match paint that was mixed based on a computer scan was a joke. I talked to their best paint guy and he admitted that the silver underlying the base color was the problem.
I also don't think paint codes exist for most Kaw vintage models. I think the best bet is to buy the paint or have the body parts painted by a painter with skill doing restoration work and a good eye.

Computer scaners only go as far as two stage systems. Even then they are limited. If you go to a candy or greater multi layer finish they are worthless.

My C2 is all original including unfaded paint. If you have no luck in your search PM me and I can take the tailpiece and a side cover to two different painters I know quite well. Between them they should be able to figure it out. One of them is now the manager of a body shop/paint supply place, as well.

It may come to that. I'll let you know!
Or, you could just pack up your tank, sidecovers, and tail and ship them out to me so I can have a good look myself!

I am looking for it. I have several old color formula books and the pages are a bit thin. I will post it when I find it. I just hope I didn't lend that book out.
