OMR. Have u noticed any chippiny yet? i used the same duplicolor paint in red and i find the red chips off the siver very easily. There seams to be a bonding issue?i even got a chip when i pulled some masking tape off the tank.my bike tipped over and the tail bent and sprung back to shape but there is cracks all over the red paint, and a bit pealed off.
Your tank looks awesome.

Haven't noticed any as of yet but again, this bike isn't complete (running) so unfortunately I don;t have a lot to say on the subject matter.
As for the tape issue, I used tape when masking for the two tone effect and I didn't have any chipping at that time.
Hmmm, I hope after all I went through on this paint job I don't have the same issues for that would truly suck major ass...
I'll keep you all posted if I come across this or similar issues.

We all know what a big fan of can paint RonKZ650 is.... lol!
In my testing on scrap metal with both the Dupli color black enamel and metal cast products (no clear coat applied), I dropped screws on it, tapped it with a screw driver tip, you name it and didn't have any problems out of the ordinary (nothing no other paint wouldn't do). Basically just marred/dimpled the surface.
As for the fading, I'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully the 2 part clear (not can paint) will help it out. If it can with stand Arizona heat (113 yesterday) then it can with stand anything including the gates of hell for it's been hot as hell the is last week.
This is automotive paint after all... If all their paint products only lasted 6 months then I just don't see how they would be able to stay in business.
Time will tell...

wondering... with the acrylic enamel.. how long did you have to let it cure for before sanding/another coat/ clear coat..... in the middle of attempting to do my first paint job and needless to say I am learning a lot of invaluable information but suffering the consequences as well.......

"how long did you have to let it cure for before sanding/another coat/ clear coat"
Basically followed all flash window requirements (between coat painting)instructions off the can and in watching all the video tutorials on the Dupli Color web site. Minimum 7 days. For the last and final I let that sunsabitch cure for three weeks...
Keep in mind, this is not a running bike (yet) so I truly wasn't in any hurry, just wanted it to come out for what I had envisioned.
NOTE: If this was a bike I needed for transportation or required completion results within a week or so and considering all the associated costs, I would have just had it accomplished by a professional.
If patience is not your gig, have a professional do it...
But I'm old and stupid and wanted to do it myself.... ROFL! :woohoo:
