another option is to paint the bike a single color and buy an off-the-shelf decal, or have the size/color customized for a few more $. here's some rough mock-ups:

groups.msn.com/mybikes/kz1000tank.msnw?Page=1

a search for motorcycle decals gets lots of hits. the KZ cop bike has a harley character, so there should be lots of decal product out there.

eg, one of the HD decal sets is about $80, and they'll change the "HD" to "KZ" for another $20.

The great thing about paint is you get two paintjobs for the price of one if you do it right. The way it works is first you apply a high gloss paint, doesn't matter what color or combination. No doubt it will become tiring whithin a year or so and you "long" for that flat paint you wished you would have used, but due to some freak great luck your gloss job has miraculously turned flat! Works for any color too. Gloss red after 1 yr= flat red, gloss white after 1 yr= flat white. Greatest thing since sliced bread, as who in the world wants a boring gloss job?

Who has done painting for you in the past Ron? Seems like you are the only one with bad paint experiences. My paint job is almost 3 years old and still as glossy as day 1. I can promise my paint job on my Triupmh will still be as glossy in 10 years. It's called clear coat..look into it. I have a few bikes here with original paint and they look like crap. They are badly faded and cracked. Any decent paint job will be around for many years as long as it is taken care of.

I like the black and white theme myself. Reminds me of a classic fifties Ford my uncle had.

Little project I have going right now. I actually prefer satin black, it's easier to keep clean and doesn't get that chalk board texture.

Is the bottom picture "before" and the top 2 varying degrees of "after", like after a few months of getting rained on, gas spilled on, sun ect? Paint didn't fare too well, surprise, surprise.
